No doubt you've heard it - women want men that are strong but sensitive, communicative but not whiny, open but mysterious, successful but not a work-aholic, etc. Confused? So are most men and women! Its kind of like the old adage "I don't know what's pornographic, but I know it when I see it!" As society has become more "feminized" and focused on women's issues, men's roles have become less defined. secrets attract what women want: Men are problem solvers - we love to take a problem, break it down and conquer it. This feeds the hunter in us. In the late 60's when the feminine movement began, men began re-evaluating their roles in relationships with women. After almost 40 years of trying, what continues to keep us in the dark about women's wants? 1.6 million years of evolution - that's what. As discussed in the book "Being a Man in a Woman's World", society continues to try to get men to conform to an ideal that is undefined and constantly moving. Consider that we view modern humanity based only on the last 2000 years (ok - 5000 if you're Chinese!) of recoded history. Look at these numbers - that's only about 1/10 of a percent of the time man has been evolving! That leaves 99.9% in which we've learned to master our world. The blame for this constant attempt to conform lies squarely with us men. Again, we're problem solvers - we view each situation in a problem - solution format. That is, we define the problem and begin looking for a solution. So, how does this create our confusion with what women say they want? To be continued as below...
